Project Description

A Brave New Urbanism

Photography and text by Shaun Fynn: Book design by StudioFYNN

The twenty first century will witness urbanization at an unprecedented rate never-before-seen in our history as city dwellers. According to United Nations data, population growth and urbanization are projected to add 2.5 billion people to the world’s urban population by 2050, predominantly in Asia and Africa. Not since the industrial revolution have the fundamental structures of habitat and work changed so rapidly with such profound implications.

This new industrial revolution defines the future in a new way, from endless city skylines, ever increasing densities, environmental pressures, socio economic polarities to science fiction inspired architectural promises of the future with their brand ladened shopping malls, our brave new world appears to disregard the planning and rationalism of twentieth-century modernism.

A Brave New Urbanism is a contemplative and visceral exploration from a human perspective of the rapidly developing metropolises of the twenty-first-century.

A Brave New Urbanism is a project currently in development.
